RELIGIOUS LITERACY
Artists bring their own special energy to that endeavor and deserve support and encouragement and validation. Here’s to the music makers and the dreamers of dreams, to anyone brave enough to share their creations with the world.
TOLERANCE
I believe that the more confident you are in your beliefs and viewpoints, the more generous you can be with beliefs and viewpoints that differ from your own. Courtesy, kindness, and polite and sincere discourse are possible and vital to the health of any society.
MEDIA & ETHICS
Objectivity in media is, based on my experience, a myth. Some groups and organizations are more altruistic and civic-minded than others, but no one goes to the time, trouble and expense to produce and promote something broadly unless they are trying to achieve specific goals, and if it’s a commercial enterprise
RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
Reading this recent article about a jailed neo-Nazi trying to hide behind “religious freedom” to protect his hate speech reinforced my faith in our collective ability to differentiate between legitimate arguments and specious ones—between those worth protecting and those who would go to any lengths to hurt others so they themselves could somehow feel strong.
SCIENTOLOGY RELIGION
I thought back to close family members and friends who had spent time taking antidepressants and other psychotropic drugs under the care of a psychiatrist or MD, and how it felt like they became completely different people while they were on them.
TOLERANCE
Enough people got so tired of living in a country that treated them like prisoners, and the system became so unworkable, that they began to protest.
COMBATING BIGOTRY & HATE
Why else would someone go so far down the road of attacking groups that have clearly demonstrated over and over again that they intend to and do improve the quality of people’s lives in profound ways?
TOLERANCE
I was moved by a recent articulate, thoughtful article about how to prepare your children for the evil that exists in the world. As a parent myself I’ve been blessed to experience the kind of unconditional love that one feels for one’s child.
TOLERANCE
One cannot, in fact, be a devout Christian, Muslim, Jew, Hindu or Buddhist and still wish to do harm to those who believe differently (or choose not to believe at all).
SCIENTOLOGY RELIGION
Imagine living in a world where you have something in your life that you find incredibly helpful and rewarding, something that gives you specific tools to solve day to day problems you’re hitting up against, and the support system you need to be the best possible version of yourself.
