Bigotry and Hate Should be Abhorrent to All—Especially at Disney

What will my sons tell my grandchildren about Disney and how they went from bringing song and joy to their childhood to bashing their religion in prime time?

Mr. Robert Iger
Chairman and CEO
The Walt Disney Company

Dear Sir,

What am I going to tell my children about Disney?

My sons were raised on Disney. Movies like Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Toy Story, etc., filled our days.

Ironically, I can’t show them MY favorite Disney movie from my youth, Song of the South, because it has been deemed racist and isn’t available in any home viewing format.

Yet my sons, raised as good and devout Scientologists, get to live in a world where Disney sponsors lies and hate against their faith. What hypocrisy!

I was in a shop the other day buying some earrings for a charitable event and mentioned it was for my church, the Church of Scientology, and the clerk asked if that was the one from Leah Remini’s show.

What was I to do? What are my kids to do—now young men making their way in the world and soon to have children of their own?

What will they tell my grandchildren about Disney and how they went from bringing song and joy to their childhood to bashing their religion in prime time?

Disney needs to get out of the bigotry business.

Sincerely,

Stacy Sass
