Disney, Religious Persecution Does Not Fit Walt’s Template

Once upon a time it was OK to persecute Christians, Jews, Mormons, Blacks, Muslims, women. Even though it still happens, we consider it pure hate speech. Are you so sure that Scientologists will always be OK to persecute? Are you really comfortable with an eventual day of reckoning?

Mr. Ben Sherwood
President Disney-ABC Television Group

Dear Mr. Sherwood,

I vehemently oppose “The Aftermath” on A&E. Why would you permit a bigoted “documentary” like this to run?

The IRS says Scientology is a tax-exempt religion. Prominent scholars agree.

Think Scientology isn’t a religion? Here is a summary of the long list of its religious recognitions throughout the world.

Your lawyers might agree it’s better to be on the right side of history. It’s only a matter of time.

Plus, “The Aftermath” has really crappy ratings. Why on Earth would you want to keep that piece of libel around when it isn’t even making you money?

Please—get rid of this piece of garbage, and show that Disney supports religious tolerance.

Yours truly,
Riggs Eckelberry
