Anheuser-Busch, Don’t Stand for A&E’s Hate Campaign

Your sponsorship is, wittingly or unwittingly, assisting a blatant attempt to destroy an American religion. Threats of violence have been made against members of my church. There are real consequences and real people involved. At this time we are witnessing that inciting hatred leads to violence, and your support of this program is not benign. By so advertising you are condoning this hatemongering. Imagine if this show were about your belief or religion.

Dear Mr. Marcondes:

I am writing to appeal to you and your sense of civic conscience in these violent times.

No one can stand by and be silent when hatred is incited and innocent people are attacked. Thus I am writing to urge you to immediately withdraw your support of the A&E Network and Leah Remini's grossly distorted show about the Scientology religion.

Your sponsorship is assisting a blatant attempt to destroy an American religion. Threats of violence have been made against members of my church. There are real consequences and real people involved. At this time we are witnessing that inciting hatred leads to violence, and your support of this program is not benign. By so advertising you are condoning this hatemongering. Imagine if this show were about your belief or religion.

I doubt that you, personally, are in favor of hatred and bigotry against any religion, and thus I am appealing to you to sever your relationship with this program.

Sincerely,
Beth Akiyama
