Scientology and the aftermath

Dear Mr. Buccieri,

I was shocked to see that A&E gave a platform for anti-religious crusader Leah Remini to spew her vile bigotry.

I had the displeasure of meeting Remini while attending a Scientology Celebrity Centre annual gala with an actual VIP as my guest. Remini was a sycophant with my guest while treating others as if they were beneath her.

It is also obvious that the only time she gathers any attention is when she attacks Scientology. And you are party to this disgusting behavior.

As a longtime Scientologist, I know what the religion has done for me and my loved ones. I am a better person today because of my religion. I am also a more giving person—I have traveled the globe teaching human rights to children, college students and military units, and I am currently involved in helping volunteers giving aid to refugees from Syria. How much humanitarian work is Remini involved in?

The Scientologists I know, and there are many, are good people who simply want to gain a better understanding of themselves and the world around them, and they truly care about their fellow human beings.

That caring factor is something that Remini sorely lacks. It is no wonder that she no longer a member of the church—bigots, selfish individuals, and people who spread discord and hate sooner or later find they do not belong. It is also clear that to justify their own lack of kindness and decency, some of those who leave try to degrade others who have good intentions and who do good actions.

Shame on you, A&E, for going against everything we stand for as a people and against ideals for which our Founding Fathers fought and died. I remind you that one of those liberties is freedom of religion.

By airing this “show” (which is really nothing more than a hit job) you are fueling the flames of hatred and intolerance.

I am a Scientologist and proud of it. I doubt that there is much that Remini is proud of.

Sincerely yours,
