How David Miscavige Restored the Path That Changed My Life

I was introduced to Scientology in the early 1990s. In the years that followed, I discovered more about myself and life than I ever thought possible.

David Miscavige

Before then, I had searched everywhere—astrology, affirmations, counseling, yoga and even drugs—hoping to find a solution to my unhappiness and lack of confidence. But only Scientology brought real, lasting change and gave me tools that worked.

Fifteen years later, I was still deeply involved and grateful for all I had gained. And, honestly, it never crossed my mind that Scientology could offer even more. But David Miscavige knew it could.

That project was called the Golden Age of Knowledge and, in 2007, Mr. Miscavige unveiled the monumental result: the Basics.

Mr. Miscavige knew that, as L. Ron Hubbard developed Scientology and the religion expanded rapidly around the world, certain errors had crept into the printed materials—mistakes that occurred over decades of transcribing and publishing our Founder’s vast body of work. Among other things, some books had transcription errors, editorial alterations and omissions that made understanding more difficult.

Mr. Miscavige left nothing to chance. He personally undertook a meticulous, 25-year-long project to return every book and lecture to its pure, unadulterated and fully authentic state—exactly as L. Ron Hubbard originally wrote and delivered each. He compared existing editions against Mr. Hubbard’s handwritten notes, original dictations and recorded lectures—correcting every omission, restoring sequences and ensuring nothing was lost.

That project was called the Golden Age of Knowledge and, in 2007, Mr. Miscavige unveiled the monumental result: the Basics. These are the definitive editions of L. Ron Hubbard’s foundational Dianetics and Scientology books and lectures. They weren’t just reprints. They were restored to be exactly as Mr. Hubbard intended—clear, chronological and accompanied by state-of-the-art restorations of his original lectures.

For me, this changed everything. Although I had been involved in Scientology for years, I realized I’d only scratched the surface. Before the Basics, I’d read one or two of Mr. Hubbard’s books. But with the Basics, I could study the entire path of discovery—following Mr. Hubbard’s journey step by step, understanding how each breakthrough built upon the one before it.

The materials were not only complete now—they were presented in a way designed for real comprehension. Each book came with thorough glossaries. I could read the book, listen to the lectures recorded during the same period and gain a full, conceptual understanding of Mr. Hubbard’s insights into the mind, spirit and life.

I had already thought Scientology was the best thing to ever happen to me. But after studying the Basics, my understanding and personal gains multiplied beyond anything I had imagined. I experienced breakthroughs I didn’t even know were possible.

There’s a saying that goes something like this: There are countless ways to get a task wrong—and only one way to get it right. With Scientology, right means preserving L. Ron Hubbard’s works exactly as he intended, so the tools produce the extraordinary results they’re designed to deliver.

For that, I thank Mr. Miscavige. His dedication ensures that every person who picks up these materials can experience Scientology as it was always meant to be—pure, complete and utterly life-changing. Because when it comes to spiritual freedom, “mostly correct” isn’t good enough. It has to be perfect.

And thanks to Mr. Miscavige’s work, it is.
