SCIENTOLOGY RELIGION

I have a friend on social media who is a practicing Baptist minister. He’s an old friend from high school. He has the usual family/nature/”funny stuff” posts, but his favorite subject matter seems to be politics.

Last week I had an unusual phone conversation with a client I’m doing some screenplay rewrite work for. He was somewhere between amazed and aghast to learn I was a Scientologist! When I asked him, why the surprise, he said it was because I was smart and not weird… at least as far as he could tell.

I made it 31 minutes in, to the scene that managed to insult Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Rastafarianism, and yes, even managed to throw in multiple jabs at Scientology.

When I was traveling through Arkansas with a business partner, our host pointed out a burned-out establishment and proclaimed it was “Jew fire,” implying it was arson for profit, set to collect insurance proceeds.

If bigotry were simple, we would have already solved it. But it isn’t and we haven’t. So here’s a look at the roots of bigotry from a Scientology point of view.

There’s a Jewish legend about what happens to us before we are born. An Angel appears and introduces us to all the high and low places in the world, all the great works of Nature, all the important and trivial affairs of men.

Then there have been a slew of high-profile tragedies including the New Zealand mosque attacks, the Easter Sunday bombing of Christian churches in Sri Lanka and several synagogue shootings in the United States and Europe. We seem to be living in a time of increased bigotry and even violence against people who are “different” whether of the “wrong” religion, skin color, gender or whatever.

On August 3, 2013, Kayla Mueller was kidnapped by ISIS fighters outside of a hospital in Northern Syria. She had traveled from her home in Prescott, Arizona to help Syrians displaced by that country’s civil war.

Nearly a thousand years ago a great army besieged a castle. Day after day, the army bombarded it with great boulders and flaming arrows. All roads and footpaths into and out from the castle were cut off, and the hidden underground tunnel had been found and filled with mortar and tar.
