RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
One of my personal goals in 2018 has been to speak out, loudly and as often as necessary, to protect my religion, Scientology, and my family and friends who join me in that faith. It’s become pretty clear to me that there are a few people, including some influential ones, who would love nothing more than to take away my freedom to practice my religion.
RELIGIOUS LITERACY
As a child growing up in the Sixties, I heard plenty of chants that “God is dead.” I watched as people around me, wanting to change the world and their place in it, turned to drugs as a solution.

Even the cynical staff at Disney and A&E would recognize that they had gone too far if Remini attacked their church, their beliefs, or the school that their children attended.

The effort to make these religious groups seem dangerous, threatening or just plain weird was prodigious. And didn’t really work on me, to be honest—my husband’s family includes a large branch of Jehovah’s Witnesses and they all seem perfectly normal to me.

When I was visiting New York last month, I got to see the Broadway phenomenon that has everyone talking: Hamilton. And I have to tell you: it’s just as good as everyone says it is. In fact, it’s better.

I’m “a big kid.” That is to say, I’m an adult. I’m well-educated, reasonably affluent, and able to hold my own in a conversation… But I’m being bullied. And honestly? It’s really uncomfortable.

If even I, a young child, could tell that these things that “everybody knew” were simple and obvious lies, how could grown-ups be repeating them? Believing them? Teaching them to their children?
