Popeye’s Chicken, Please Cancel Advertising That Supports A&E Religious Hate TV

This is ironic considering Disney, which owns 50 percent of A&E, immediately cancelled ABC’s Roseanne show due to her racist tweet, yet they turn a blind eye to A&E’s religious persecution of Scientologists. This is sanctimonious hypocrisy.

Dear Mr. Behring,

I am writing to encourage you to cease your support of A&E’s programming as they seems to be full steam ahead with putting anti-religious bigotry and hate programming on the air. I am sure these programs conflict with the values of your company.

In the past, A&E’s ‘Scientology: The Aftermath’ show with Leah Remini has done nothing but incite hate, anti-religious bullying and hardship for Scientologists, among other groups, and in some cases created undue tension between parishioners and their families. Despite crashing viewership and other advertisers withdrawing their support, A&E is on a hate programming fixation.

This is ironic considering Disney, which owns 50 percent of A&E, immediately canceled ABC’s Roseanne show due to her racist tweet, yet they turn a blind eye to A&E’s religious persecution of Scientologists. This is sanctimonious hypocrisy. I would hate for your brand to get caught up in this abuse.

Please reevaluate where you send your advertising dollars so as not to support others’ hate.

Thank you,

Evan Wecksell
