The Hollywood Reporter—Moralists? You Must be Joking

And The Hollywood Reporter itself has a history of forwarding hate. In the 1940s and 50s, the publication was part and parcel of fomenting the anti-Communist campaign in Hollywood, where thousands of people were blacklisted in a witch hunt.

Dear Mr. Belloni,

I have just read Seth Abramovitch’s article in The Hollywood Reporter regarding Elisabeth Moss and her swearing in conjunction with receiving her two Emmys. Abramovitch says the swearing “has storied tradition in Scientology, say insiders.”

So the article attempts to vilify Ms. Moss because (a) she’s a Scientologist, (b) she swears, and (c) that is Church of Scientology protocol.

Wow. Really?

This is nothing more than another hate attack against my church.

This is truly grasping at straws. It’s as if Ms. Moss is the only celebrity to ever use profanity in public. Even more, the article tries to use this as a black mark against Scientology.

As an active Scientologist for over 40 years, I can tell you that I have, in fact, heard profanity from other Scientologists. I’ve also heard it from friends and neighbors who are Catholics, Protestants, Jews and atheists. To publish an article citing Ms. Moss’s swearing and somehow tie that to Scientology, is ludicrous.

It’s not surprising, however, as Abramovitch has a history of stepping in it. He was fired in 2012 for using the “N-word” in a post re: Kanye West, and which itself is riddled with profanity. Talk about double standards.

And The Hollywood Reporter itself has a history of forwarding hate. In the 1940s and 50s, the publication was part and parcel of fomenting the anti-Communist campaign in Hollywood, where thousands of people were blacklisted in a witch hunt. Without The Hollywood Reporter effectively curtailing bigotry and hate in its staff, this atrocity was allowed to grow and take root.

And now The Hollywood Reporter is doing the same thing again. Abramovitch’s article is nothing but expressing hate, fact-twisting, and anti-religious bigotry.

Shame on you.

Doesn’t The Hollywood Reporter have better things to “report” on?
