Disney: please help stop the bullying

I have always loved Disney for their anti-bullying and anti-discrimination policies but not now that you are supporting a program which is only creating false information, bigotry, bullying and discrimination against Scientologists.

Dear Mr. Sherwood,
I am a Scientologist. I have been for many years. Scientology has done many things for me including helped me be happier, helped me with relationships, helped me deal with loss and gave me tools to thrive as a business owner. The show “Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath” on A&E has fueled hate and bigotry against Scientology and Scientologists like myself.

I have always loved Disney for their anti-bullying and anti-discrimination policies but not now that you are supporting a program which is only creating false information, bigotry, bullying and discrimination against Scientologists.

We live in a country that is determined to get rid of discrimination whether it be due to someone’s race, creed or sexual preference. But it is apparently acceptable to attack Scientology.

This is a very sad thing.

I have had it come up many times one of which was very uncomfortable. Someone I was working with had seen Leah Remini’s show and was saying very false and hurtful things that he had “learned” about Scientology. I didn’t feel comfortable to say that I was a Scientologist initially as the things he was saying were so hurtful and false. There was a point that I couldn’t tolerate it further and I spoke up, thankfully I was supported by another person present who was not a Scientologist. She spoke of her experiences with Scientologists she knew which had all been positive.

I was never hired again for that project and it seems to have been a direct result of the conversation. This is discrimination caused by Leah Remini’s show.

I was always taught to respect the religious beliefs of others (a principle held by all Scientologists). I abide by that. I think we should support each other and help each other. I don’t care if someone doesn’t practice Scientology, I just ask that they don’t discriminate against those who do.

We shouldn’t have to look back at the horrible aftermath, many years later to determine that what was done to a group of people was wrong. We can do something about it now.

Please help stop the bullying.

Thank you,
