Dear Ladies and Gentlemen of Disney, I am sure you have seen the stats in Hollywood. People are tuning out in droves. Hollywood tries something different to win them back but nothing is working. Why? What’s missing? Are you ready? Get out your pens because you will want to write this down.
RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
Growing up as an agnostic, John did not give religious matters too much thought. Nor did he assess his actions against any kind of religious teachings or moral codes. If something seemed advantageous in the moment and the risk was not too great, it was worthwhile.
TOLERANCE
A group of almost 600 people, mostly African-Americans, gather on a road leading east out of a small southern town. They begin to walk. Their destination is the state capital, 54 miles away. They have only come six blocks when they arrive at the bridge that marks the edge of town.

When I was a child in France, the word “culte” just meant “worship.” Still does. In fact, when intolerant types there want to disapprove of some faith, they have to call it a “secte.” Of course, in the USA a cult can be anything from “the cult of skinny jeans” to some dark, authoritarian thing.

How Disney feels comfortable coming down on that side of the fence is beyond me. Apparently, their real values are not family values.

Hey haters! I know you tend to think you’re pretty sharp. That you know everything we’ll say and do before we say and do it. But I bet you can’t guess what my favorite thing is about Scientologists. You should know this one thing before you spew whatever it is you've got all lined up in your cabeza.

Just as the only thing we need to fear is Fear itself, so the only thing truly worth hating is Hate. And since Hate equals Fear, anyway, the next time you feel your gorge rising with venom against something you’ve read or someone you’ve heard, try this handy little remedy:

While this world has a history of vicious intolerance—one it sometimes appears may continue forever—I see signs that there is more good than bad, that we are evolving socially and spiritually. Only in the backwaters of a dark soul can someone believe another’s life is theirs for the taking, and there are many more bright souls than dark in this world.
