Mother Jones promoting religious hate book

The very Amendment you look to for your right to spread bigotry also guarantees freedom of religion and the right to practice one’s chosen religion, free of the intolerance you promote.

Dear Ms. Jeffery,

I read your piece of yesterday concerning books that bring people solace and to my astonishment saw reference to Lawrence Wright’s propaganda on Scientology. Possibly you have not read it, but those who know Scientology, whether they are Scientologists or not, found this book deeply flawed, twisted and maleficent. “How Lawrence Wright Got it so Wrong,” the white paper exposing numerous of its falsehoods, is at www.lawrencewrightgoingclear.com.

But that brings us to a much more salient point—why does Mother Jones consider it remotely acceptable in this era to stack hate against the founder of a religion born in the 20th century and flourishing in the 21st despite the carping criticisms of the bigoted press with whom your publication has apparently aligned?

The very Amendment you look to for your right to spread bigotry also guarantees freedom of religion and the right to practice one’s chosen religion, free of the intolerance you promote.

You should recognize that you have joined the ranks of illegitimate news commentators who denigrate religions at a time when religious thought, conscience, prayer and belief should be supported and enhanced, not cut down in contempt.

For the facts about L. Ron Hubbard, please go to lronhubbard.org. For facts on Scientology, please go to scientology.org and STANDleague.org.

Sincerely,
Rebecca Blair
