WAMC Pandering to Someone Who Scammed $21 Million Savings From Retirees

Dear Editor,

I read your September 17 article pandering to Michelle LeClair and her falsehood-filled tale seeking to deflect attention away from her own criminal prosecution and the multiple civil suits brought against her by elderly pensioners bilked of more than $21 million.

It amazes me that you would provide a platform to someone who so narrowly escaped jail time for masterminding a multimillion-dollar Ponzi scheme that cost so many seniors dearly.

These civil and criminal cases stemming from her financial misdeeds resulted in a permanent injunction and restitution order issued against her by a Superior Court judge, and a plea agreement with the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office.

Instead of accepting responsibility for her misdeeds, LeClair is now embroiled in a cover-up effort where she attempts to target the Church for her own criminal scheme.

Of note, contrary to LeClair’s fictional account, the Church has no position on sexual orientation. We stand opposed to discrimination of any sort, including on the basis of sexuality.

Why you would pander to someone who bilked 140 retirees of much or all of their life savings and then exacerbated their pain by blaming people utterly uninvolved in her misconduct, reveals not only a lack of honest research but a measure of depravity in your reporting.

To actually find out what Scientology is and does, I recommend you go to Scientology.tv.

Sincerely,

Ulriche W.
