Ms. Sorren,
I read your article on Elisabeth Moss’s Golden Globe win yesterday and was appalled at what you wrote.
As a member of STAND, Scientologists Taking Action Against Discrimination, I am lodging an objection to your bigoted and discriminatory comments about my religion, Scientology.
Your mean-spirited article only served to reflect your attitude toward a very talented actress who, in her acceptance speech, made a strong and poignant statement in support of women.
As a reporter it is incumbent upon you to conduct the research necessary to publish a meaningful article, that others may derive some form of greater understanding on a given subject. Instead, you are parroting other peoples’ vicious taunts against the only religion to have emerged in the 20th century that has not only survived into the 21st but is expanding and flourishing at an incredible rate. For example, new Scientology Churches have opened in Johannesburg, South Africa; Amsterdam, Netherlands; Birmingham, England; and Dublin, Ireland, in the last several months alone.
I can only say that having read your article I am unfortunately left with the impression that its author is one who buried their head in the sand.
I recommend in future articles you work in accordance with the Charter on Journalistic Ethics in Relation to Respect for Religion or Belief. Doing so will help make you a better journalist.
