Disney – Please Rein in Your Bigoted Subsidiary

I have been a Scientology Minister since 1968. What you are doing by sponsoring this Leah Remini witch hunt against Scientology and Scientologists is all too familiar. You are harming a lot of good people who save lives and help people all over the world.

Dear Mr. Bodenheimer:

My father, Paul Hochman, was a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Air Force in World War II. He commanded an air base in the then remote Chengdu area of China. After the war, he worked for the U.S. government as an aeronautical engineer until the McCarthy era. Because of his legal, nonviolent, human rights-oriented liberal political views, in 1951 he was blacklisted and never could work at what he loved for the rest of his life. They may as well have shot him.

Before that, my father’s parents escaped the pogroms in Ukraine and came to America for freedom from injustice, hate, bigotry and for a better life for themselves and their children.

Now, sadly, we have a new bigotry against my religion being whipped up by A&E and backed by, of all organizations, Disney. I have always held Disney in high regard and never would have expected this of you and your organization. I have been a Scientology Minister since 1968. What you are doing by sponsoring this Leah Remini witch hunt against Scientology and Scientologists is all too familiar. You are harming a lot of good people who save lives and help others all over the world. If anyone takes just a few minutes online they can see the tremendous good we do. But you are not reporting this.

I was thinking of taking my family to Disneyland this year. Until Disney stops promoting hate and prejudice against my religion, in good conscience I cannot do so and will boycott anything “Disney.” I have friends who work at Disney. I will encourage them to find other jobs. I will encourage my 23,000+ friends on Facebook to have nothing to do with Disney until you stop sponsoring hate against my religion and its members.

Scientology is no longer small. There are millions of us and we have millions more friends. I will ask that others who believe in freedom and justice and fairness do the same.
