Dear Mr. Rozé,
I, like many of my peers, colleagues and family members, have been loyal customers of yours for many years. For this reason, I feel it my duty to address an important matter so that you can make the right decision, for your customers and your brand as a whole.
I learned that you are sponsoring the Television Academy for its 2020 Emmy Awards. Unfortunately, one of the nominees this year is an imposter: the last episode of Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath, a series that was aired on A&E before it was cancelled due to the violence it persistently promoted. Her entire show was built on generating anti-religious hate, be it against Scientology, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or the Jehovah’s Witnesses, among others.
Not only does Ms. Remini admit unabashedly and publicly that she does not vet her sources, her show has triggered hundreds of threats and actual violence against church members of various faiths, not only Scientologists. Case in point: after Remini announced she would be leveling attacks at Jehovah’s Witnesses in Season 3 (the same season this nominated episode is from), several Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Halls were the subject of serious collateral damage; two of them were burned to the ground.

The show was forced off the air in the end, but now, in a travesty of judgment, the last episode is actually being put forward for an Emmy award!
In any era, but especially in this current climate in which people at all levels of society, and especially big corporations, are being held accountable for any lack of tolerance and any manifestations of discrimination, it is of capital importance that a company like yours thinks again before supporting a hate-inciting platform such as Leah Remini’s.
As one of your consumers and a member of this woke society in which we’re living, I am cordially asking you to withdraw your support from the 2020 Emmy awards, for the sake of your public image, but also just because it’s the right thing to do.
