I am a long-time Scientologist (of over 35 years). I understand that you are an advertiser for the A&E Aftermath show. It distresses me to see my religion blatantly attacked and misrepresented by A&E’s so-called “documentary series” featuring a small group of disgruntled ex-Scientologists purveying their particularly vitriolic brand of hate and bigotry.
This show does nothing less than invite harassment on a wide scale against me and my fellow church members. It is one-sided and discriminatory. It is a disgraceful and disheartening example of how far some in the entertainment world have fallen away from holding safe the ideals, including religious freedom, that made our country great.
I believe a large advertiser has the responsibility to act in an ethical manner and not support such religious bigotry which often leads to violence. What can possibly be the gain for you to do this? I have personally seen violence against our churches in the wake of attacks by persons this group of hateful ex-members. Haven’t we seen enough hatred and tragedy in America in recent weeks?
I hope you take this letter to heart and reconsider your sponsorship of this program. If not, I will have no choice but to boycott your company and its products and tell my wide network of friends to do the same.
