I’ve faced ruin and recovery, wreck and regret, and the daily news is like a Groundhog Day rerun of a tour of Hades. So what is there to give thanks for? Plenty.

This Thanksgiving, let us be reminded that we have far more that brings us together than tears us apart.

Hate comes from the lie that we are different, that certain people are inherently better than “other” people.
TOLERANCE
I have never met Queen Elizabeth II, but I won’t lie her death has broken me. By being such a relentless source of inspiration, acceptance, and an object of pride, the Queen became a guiding compass to people of all faiths in the UK and across the Commonwealth.

“I hope religious leaders stand up to all manifestations of hatred and intolerance.”

The truth is, maybe you and I don’t know all about it. And the next time we think we do, let’s take a good, hard look instead.

Tutu, who passed away this week, was an exuberant warrior who fought against apartheid in his native South Africa and for justice and human rights around the world.

As we work our way through interfaith gatherings we focus on similarities, knowing that others will be hollering the differences from the rooftops.
TOLERANCE
But is the situation really hopeless? The conflict between the Israelis and Palestinians was not created by an impersonal force of nature. It was created by the conflicting ideas of different human beings and is kept alive by current generations on both sides who have not figured out how to get along.

Today’s bullies are tomorrow’s bigots, and today’s victims of bullies need a hand to help reclaim their lives, their confidence and their potential.
