STAND International Director Edward Parkin issued the following statement, as the world mourns the death of George Floyd:

We stand with religions and ministers across the world urging a unified, peaceful response to the horrific injustice of George Floyd’s death.

In its wake, we work to pick up the pieces and build something better. The world has seen enough hate, division, blind prejudice and discrimination. Those days must end.

“Out of this senseless tragedy, let us create constructive meaning. Let us demand and realize a culture that treats all people with dignity and that celebrates the sanctity of every life in the understanding that, in the words of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., ‘injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.’

“An unrelenting champion of freedom who built equal rights into the Church’s creed, Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard once said: ‘The old must give way to the new, falsehood must become exposed by truth, and truth, though fought, always in the end prevails.’”
