COMBATING BIGOTRY & HATE
My family fled anti-Semitism in the Ukraine about 100 years ago. Jews coming to America at that time were often fleeing the pogroms. Basically, if you were headed to Ellis Island, it was likely someone back home wanted you and your family dead.
COMBATING BIGOTRY & HATE
You walk into the bathroom and a large, black graffitied swastika greets you. It’s big, it’s ugly and it exudes an almost living presence, defying you to respond in some way. You’re 11 years old, you have fifteen minutes to get back to class, you’re in a new school, you just started making friends, and you don’t want to rock the boat.
COMBATING BIGOTRY & HATE
We do not have to hate each other, we do not have to fight, we do not have to natter and criticize and we do not have to be as desperately unhappy as so many of us are when filled with disgust for our fellow man.

RELIGIOUS FREEDOM
UN Secretary-General António Guterres delivered an insightful speech when he launched the Fez Plan of Action to prevent hate speech as an incitement to acts of atrocity. The Fez Plan, drawn up in April 2015 in Fez, Morocco, addresses hate speech which causes atrocities against people of religion.
COMBATING BIGOTRY & HATE
I’ve been reading about the train stabbing incident in Portland with a heavy heart. Like so many others, I’ve been trying to make some sense out of all of it—to put it into some sort of understandable context. As a Scientologist, it’s my personal reality that we are all spiritual beings.
COMBATING BIGOTRY & HATE
When I was in third grade, I had a teacher who despised me. It wasn't because of anything I'd done to her, and it wasn't that I was a difficult student. In fact, I loved learning, was an avid reader, and was pretty social, so school was a perfect fit. Except for Mrs. Goldwitch.
