STAND Joins With the Faith Community on Religious Freedom Day to Celebrate the Right to Believe
October 27, 2020 marks the 22nd anniversary of the 1998 International Religious Freedom Act, described by the U.S. State Department as “landmark legislation that—for the first time—made promoting and defending international religious freedom a specific focus of U.S. foreign policy.”
Signifying the importance of freedom of belief to the Scientology religion, Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard wrote religious freedom directly into the Creed of the Church on February 18, 1954, with the words “We of the Church believe... that all men have inalienable rights to their own religious practices and their performance.” In the Code of a Scientologist, parishioners pledge themselves, for the good of all, “to support the freedom of religion.”
“We are proud to work alongside other faiths to fight for freedom of religion across the globe and to ensure members of every religion can exercise that human right free from discrimination,” said National STAND Director Bari Berger.
