For decades, Scientologists in Germany faced a question few citizens in democratic societies ever expect to confront: Could their religion cost them their livelihood?
History has shown the danger that arises when governments and institutions systematically distort the beliefs of a minority religion in order to justify exceptional treatment against it.
“Discrimination on the basis of religion has no place in the Crossroads of America,” said U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana Zachary A. Myers.
“Our Constitution protects the religious liberty of all people to exercise their faith. In America, that means even those who are incarcerated can continue to worship and pray.”
